Colonel Govind Kapoor's family incorporates his children Aakash pseudonym Akku and Aman and four naughty grandkids. It was heavily criticised for its main plot, stale and weak humor compared to Priyadarshan's previous films, lack of character development, and some irritating parts, although performances of Raval, Rana, and Rajpal received some praise.
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave the film 1 star and expressed, "Priyadarshan was once feted for the controlled lunacy of his comedies. Here, the lunacy is unblemished. Control is prominent by its absence."Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave the film 1.5 out of 5 stars and expressed, "a couple of individuals hold you back from escaping this noisy and clear charge - a smooth Shilpa Shetty, Ashutosh Rana playing a curmudgeon, and Priyadarshan staple Paresh Rawal." Samrudhi Ghosh of Hindustan Times gave the film a negative audit and expressed, "Priyadarshan's turbulent parody of-blunders is distressingly dated." Narendra Saini of NDTV India gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and expressed, "[Priyadarshan] has a style of satire, where there is a ton of disarray and it is joined by a long multitude of stars. That is the manner by which he attempts to chuckle. However, this time he passes up a great opportunity totally and attempts to make the crowd chuckle through the old formula." Sudhanshu Maheshwari of Aaj Tak gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and expressed, "In such a circumstance, there was some buzz about Hungama 2, yet without even a trace of satire, it stayed only a loud film, which would not hurt anybody in.
